Cochran’s Woman’s Club by Maureen Stoy.
.
“We are able to accomplish results that no single woman could possibly ever accomplish.
Our federation has led us into fields that men do not traverse.
We have done work and are still doing work which, but for the women would have been left undone.” -- Mary Ann Rutherford Lipscomb.
.
As the Cochran Woman’s Club celebrates its 90th anniversary, the words of Mary Ann Rutherford Lipscomb resound now, just as much as when she championed the causes of women in the early 1900s and established the Tallulah Falls School in 1909.
We carry on her campaign for education, to fight for working mothers and healthier families, and to support local initiatives.
The past is part of the present and represents who the members of the Cochran Woman’s Club are with their determination to make Cochran a beautiful community for all to live.
Without the past experiences and dedication of numerous women we could not be the strong organization standing in Cochran today.
On the 90th Anniversary, honor and respect are given to the great women who developed the many programs over the years..
