КЫРГЫЗСКИЙ НАЦИОНАЛЬНЫЙ МУЗЕЙ ИЗОБРАЗИТЕЛЬНЫХ ИСКУССТВ имени ГАПАРА АЙТИЕВА является главной художественной сокровищницей Кыргызстана. Картинная галерея, позднее переименованная в Киргизский государственный музей изобразительных искусств, была открыта 1 января 1935 года.. . Основой музейной коллекции стали 72 произведений русских художников, поступившие из Государственной Третьяковской галереи и Наркомпроса РСФСР, лично отобранные основателем музея, основоположником киргизской живописи С. А. Чуйковым. Начиная с первой Республиканской выставки 1934 года, фонды музея систематически пополняются работами художников Кыргызстана.. . На сегодняшний день музейное собрание насчитывает около 18 тысяч единиц хранения. Структурное деление коллекции ведется по видам изобразительного искусства – фонды живописи (около 4 тыс. экспонатов), графики (около 9600), скульптуры (около 1 тыс.), декоративно-прикладного искусства (более 3 тыс.).. . Русская живопись XVIII-XX веков представлена в КНМИИ таким образом, что может служить иллюстрацией истории изобразительного искусства России по всем ее хронологическим этапам и стилистическим направлениям.. . Главным и наиболее полным разделом музейной коллекции являются фонды кыргызского изобразительного и декоративно-прикладного искусства.. . Коллекция кыргызского декоративно-прикладного творчества показывает все многообразие видов, все наиболее характерное и значительное: вышивка, изделия из войлока, резьба по дереву, узорное ткачество, тиснение по коже, ювелирные украшения.. . Музейное собрание произведений художников Кыргызстана позволяет судить о развитии культуры, о формировании национальной школы, оно охватывает все этапы развития профессионального изобразительного искусства.. . Золотой фонд музея – это произведения классиков кыргызского изобразительного искусства С. Чуйкова, Г. Айтиева, С. Акылбекова, А. Игнатьева, Л. Ильиной, А. Михалева, Л. Месароша, О. Мануйловой, Т. Садыкова, Д. Уметова, Т. Герцена, Б. Джумабаева, А. Асранкулова, С. Айтиева, художников разных поколений, разных художественных стилей, направлений.
