Detailed description is Artist Co-op Gallery 220 is a co-operative gallery which was organized just five weeks after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Mississippi Gulf Coast on August 29, 2005.
Located just a few blocks from the beach in an historic building in Old Town Bay St.
Louis, Mississippi, Gallery 220 comprises a group of artists and business people who rose to the formidable challenges which the storm presented.
Thanks to the perseverance and hard work of building owners Jenise McCardell and Mark Currier of Clay Creations, the building was cleaned out and repaired in time for the October Second Saturday Artwalk, a much loved tradition in Old Town..

Michelle Allee - Michelle is a Gulf Coast artist who resides in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
Her primary medium is acrylic paints, which she applies to unique textural surfaces.
While Michelle has taken instruction internationally in various art techniques, she is primarily self-taught.
Michelle has exhibited her work in galleries in Arizona, Texas, New Jersey, Virginia, Mississippi, Washington D.C.
and Louisiana.

Scott Blackwell - Scott creates all those wonderfully wacky fish with the big lips that contribute vivid splashes of color all over the area.

Her favorite subjects are the flora and fauna of New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Mark Buszkiewicz - After practicing my wood-working skills over 30 years, I was becoming increasingly limited by that medium.
The plasticity of clay freed me to explore more fluid and organic forms.
It rises, stretches and bends.
Clay has been both a liberating and frustrating medium for me.
I love it.
” Thinking in clay” has even impacted my architectural design work, making me re-evaluate line and proportion.
I recently received an award for best new construction design in the Historic District of Bay Saint Louis.
My work is exhibited at Gallery 220 and also may be seen at Bay Artist’s Co-op.
The current work is inspired by botanical forms.
I am exploring the tensile limits of clay and experimenting with color and texture.
Look for my sculpture in the Depot District titled “Spiral Cone.
Regan Carney - Regan is a well-respected clay artist who creates wall sculptures, vases, and utilitarian pieces of pottery.

Jenise McCardell and Mark Currier - Jenise received an Associate Degree in Graphics at Key West Community College and a BFA in Ceramics at the University of Florida.
She then moved to the French Quarter in New Orleans and opened her business in 1980.
During the first 12 years, her first two “shops” were located at the old JAX Brewery and the Riverwalk where she sold from craft carts overlooking the mighty Mississippi.
In 1983, she left New Orleans and moved to Main St.
in Bay Saint Louis, MS and is living happily despite the bad weather in 2005.
Clay Creations are handmade sculptures primarily of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
The pieces are sculpted from white clay, hand-painted and fired twice in a hire temperature kiln.
Her Clay Creations Studio is a family affair that includes husband, Mark Currier, “the plaster master/potter”.
Her daughter, Devon paints and makes “Hurricane Crosses” and mother, Nancy creates unique light switch plates and hook houses.
The last edition to the family is Mark’s daughter Michelle, who paints and works on graphic and web design..
Julie Nelson - Julie Nelson is a ceramic artist specializing in raku pottery with an emphasis on raku tiles.
A resident of Kiln, Mississippi, she has studied with Regan Carney of Bay St.
Louis, MS., and was mentored in the art of raku by Joe Bernard of Lacombe, Louisiana.
Julie was featured in "The Art of the Storm", a documentary about artists who survived Hurricane Katrina.
