Founded in 1997, the Franklin Stage Company produces professional admission-free classic and new plays. FSC produces plays and also presents emerging and established artists in a variety of performance disciplines.. . FSC endeavors to produce unexpected interpretations, a high level of artistry, and the ability to make the most challenging texts accessible and compelling. We strive to present work that stimulates thought and provokes discussion to illuminate as well as entertain. We believe passionately in the ability of theater to turn a roomful of strangers into a community.. . The company was founded on the principle that great theater should be accessible to all. Since our first season, we have produced 29 admission-free classical plays and 5 original ones, and presented performances for a cumulative audience of more than 50,000 theatre-goers.. . Programming at FSC is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
