Detailed description is EMS 1 provides medical service to the eastern side of Franklin County. We have 16 members. If you are interested in becomg a member of EMS 1 or any other Franklin County Squad. Please call 765-647-0234. In 1971, John Brater of Lutz-Brater Funeral Home was retiring a 1962 Cadillac ambulance and offered to donate the vehicle to the Drewersburg Fire Department. The "Caddy" was the first of many donations that built EMS 1.. . Nineteen people from the Fire Department and the community volunteered to take a 37 hour course of Emergency Care and Rescue. With help from the Fire Department Auxiliary and neighboring fire departments in Ohio and Indiana. Along with member of the squad were able to get donated equipment and supplies. . . In years past EMS 1 has had a 1975 Chevrolet, a 1985 Ford and a 1995 ford van.. . Today EMS 1 is still housed at Drewersburg Fire Department in a newly added expansion. Currently we have a 2002 Wheeled Coach City ambulance. EMT's must take a course of 160 hours, plus yearly continuing education requirements. Monthly meetings and training keep our current 18 members to date on new equipment, procedures and requirements. . . EMS 1 looks forward to providing many more years of service to the community.
