Detailed description is www.poetikvorlesung.uni-frankfurt.de Die Frankfurter Poetik-Vorlesungen wurden 1959 vom S. Fischer Verlag in Form einer Stiftungsgastdozentur eingerichtet. Seit 1963 werden sie vom Suhrkamp Verlag (beziehungsweise der Peter Suhrkamp Stiftung) sowie der Vereinigung von Freunden und Förderern der Goethe-Universität getragen. Die bei ihrer Gründung im deutschen Literaturbetrieb einzigartige Institution konnte seitdem mit Ausnahme einer Unterbrechung zwischen 1968 und 1979 in nahezu jedem Semester eine Veranstaltung anbieten und avancierte auf diese Weise zu einem wichtigen Faktor im literarischen Leben der Stadt Frankfurt. Nach Ingeborg Bachmann im Herbst 1959 erhielten unter anderem Heinrich Böll, Günter Grass und Christa Wolf die Gelegenheit, sich in einer mehrteiligen Vorlesungsreihe über eine selbstgestellte Frage zur zeitgenössischen Dichtung theoretisch darstellend zu äußern.
