Detailed description is First Fruits Farm was founded by former NFL Lineman Jason Brown.
The Farm is an extension of his Ministry, Wisdom for Life.
In April 2012, I decided to step out on faith and walk away from my career in the NFL.
God revealed to me that he had something greater in store for me and that my family should move back to my home state of North Carolina and start a farm.
This really caught us by surprise because we knew nothing about farming.
Yet, out of obedience, we started looking for available farmland.
This is when Tay and I made a covenant with God and told Him that whatever place He blessed us with, we would name it FirstFruits Farm and that his people would receive the FirstFruits of whatever is produced from the land.

In October 2012, God poured us out a blessing greater than we were able to receive in the form of a beautiful 1,000 acre farm in Franklin County, North Carolina.
Little did i know, the hard work had just begun.
We labored all of 2013 getting the farm back into shape and applying God's plan as he revealed it to us.
We ultimately incorporated FirstFruits Farm into the Mission of "Wisdom for Life" and thats sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ by sharing our hearts first and serving our neighbors with love.

2014 turned out to be a breakthrough year for us with a host of successful events at the Farm.
We hosted the our first annual youth fishing derby.
Research opportunities were made available to grad students of NC State University.
We were also blessed with gleaning and harvest opportunities in a collaborative effort with the Society of St.
Andrews, the Innerfaith Food shuttle, and the Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina where more than 10,000 pounds of cucumbers and 100,000 pounds of sweet potatoes were donated for local hunger relief efforts.
A special thanks to David and Allen Rose of Nashville, NC for donating the sweet potato slips and Len Wester for lending his farming expertise in the cultivation and planting process.
I couldn't have done it without their help.
I am thankful God puts the right people in my life to help get His will accomplished.
More than 600 volunteers lent a helping hand in our gleaning and harvesting events.
We are greatful for your loving sacrifice and support.

Becuase our sweet potato harvest was such a success, our plans are to do it again November 7, 2015 in the form of a Great Harvest Festival.
Our goals are to double our sweet potato harvest numbers to 200,000 pounds.
After the Harvest from 9-noon, the festival will begin which is to include fishing, hayrides, cornmaze, food, and live entertainment from local churches.
