SUNY Oswego The Field Placement Office was established in 2001 with 250 candidates placed in early experiences, and 350 candidates in student teaching placements. Today, ten years later, the number of placements being made for teacher candidates has almost tripled. At present, more than 1,800 placements are being made in nearly 300 schools and other agencies during each academic year. . . The Field Placement Office continues to collaborate with academic faculty, public schools, and community partners to locate authentic, rich, engaging and diverse experiences for all initial licensure candidates in the School of Education.. . The Field Placement Office coordinates placements to help candidates gain the practical knowledge needed to become successful educators. In addition, we strive to continue to work with outside constituents to weave a “Transformative School Fabric”; increasing the strands of knowledge, practice, reflection, authentic learning, collaboration, leadership and social justice! .
