Faith Assembly of Grand Detour is located approximately 100 miles west of Chicago in the Rock River valley of Northern Illinois known as the Sauk Valley named after the Sauk Indian tribe and infamous Chief Black Hawk. The village of Grand Detour, named for the grand detour of the Rock River as it charts its course through this area, hosts a population of around 400 and is birthplace of the John Deere steel . plow and museum. Grand Detour and Faith Assembly are ideally located between the larger cities of Rockford, DeKalb, and the Quad Cities each about 45 miles away. Within a radius of 15 miles there is a population of around 80,000 people including the smaller cities and towns of Dixon, Sterling, Rock Falls, and Oregon. Dixon is the Lee County seat and boyhood hometown of President Ronald Reagan, and the closest place (5 miles) for all types of shopping. . .
