A trajetória das Faculdades Integradas de Caratinga (FIC) começa em 1936, quando o Reverendo Uriel de Almeida Leitão fundou a Sociedade Colégio Caratinga, que mantinha o Colégio Caratinga, único em toda a região Leste de Minas.
Precursor no vale do Rio Doce, o ginásio atraía alunos de diversas cidades, consolidando-se em excelência de ensino nos cursos fundamental, médio e técnico nas décadas de 40, 50 e 60..

Com a necessidade de implantar cursos superiores na cidade, a Sociedade Colégio Caratinga passou a se denominar Associação Presbiteriana de Educação e Pesquisa (ASPEP).
A implantação da Faculdade de Ciências Contábeis, na década de 70, abriu caminho para que outras faculdades viessem.
Em 1993, chegou o curso de Serviço Social.

Da parceria, em 2001, instalou-se a FATUR - Faculdade de Turismo de Caratinga..
