Detailed description is Escola Guignard é uma escola de artes em Belo Horizonte que formou artistas importantes no circuito mineiro, nacional e internacional.
A partir da promulgação da Constituição do Estado de Minas Gerais de 1989, passou a ser uma unidade acadêmica da Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais (UEMG).HistóricoA origem da escola remete ao convite feito pelo então prefeito de Belo Horizonte, Juscelino Kubitschek, em 1943, para o artista Alberto da Veiga Guignard dirigir a Escola de Belas Artes.
Aceita a tarefa, Guignard muda-se para a capital mineira.
Um ano depois, a escola seria fundida à Escola de Arquitetura no então batizado Instituto de Belas Artes de Belo Horizonte.Em 1994 foi inaugurado o prédio que abriga a Escola desde então.
Construído junto a Serra do Curral, esta obra do arquiteto Gustavo Penna é repleta de simbolismo, reafirmando a tradição cultural de Minas Gerais numa linguagem contemporânea.
Classificada pela revista Projeto como uma das 30 obras arquitetônicas de maior relevância no Brasil.As produções dos alunos compõem exposições, o que permite a avaliação do público e o diagnóstico dessa repercussão.
