Detailed description is In Spring of 2014, 3-year old Eleanor expressed interest in getting a couple chicks to raise. We thought it was just a phase, but having been raised on a working dairy farm her father decided it would be a good experiment. We ordered 12 "Easter Egger" chicks, expecting the kids to get bored and eventually selling them off or bringing them to the farm to live out the rest of their lives. But Eleanor raised the babies herself, with a little help from mom and dad. She has helped feed them, clean their coop, and now that they are full grown collects their eggs daily. Her favorite stores in the world are Waddington True Value and Tractor Supply, so she can help pick out their food and treats. A year later she has expanded her business to a total of 23 laying hens and a few other various birds including a couple bantam roosters, Silkie rooster, and ducks. She even took her egg money to Tractor Supply during "Chick Days" to purchase new babies (Isa Brown, brown egg layers) so she could grow her business even bigger. At 4 years old, she has already learned the concept of investment, as well as overhead costs, and long hours even when it's not fun or the weather is bad. . If you would like to purchase Eleanor's Eggs, she is selling her Farm Fresh Eggs for $2/dozen. We do take in your used egg cartons for recycling if you don't know what to do with them, and are like me and can't bare to throw them out.. In the next few weeks I will also be teaching her the craft of making all natural and organic cleaners, soaps, repellent, and other hand made goods. So be on the look out for those, as we expand her business (operating under the DBA of Rogue Decals & Sign Shop). . This summer we are taking our family on a 2 week vacation down the Eastern coast to visit several fun places including Washington DC, Charlotte NC, and Myrtle Beach.
