Promote true democracy, equity, social justice, cross-cultural understanding & sustainable development in Egypt GOALS AND OBJECTIVES . EAF is organized exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Federation is organized for educational and charitable purposes. Its goals and objectives are to serve the best interest of Egyptian- Americans and to advocate healthy relations between the USA and the Egyptian people. Towards this end, the Federation shall:. 1 Coordinate and unite efforts to encounter challenges facing the Egyptian communities in the United States.. 2 Plan, execute and implement programs pertinent to their respective organizations, and between member organizations in various areas relating to the Federation activities.. 3 Exchange resources, ideas, expertise, and experiences between member organizations in various areas relating to the Federation activities.. 4 Connect people of Egyptian origin in the United States, especially second and third generations with their native land Egypt, through shared activities.. 5 Establish and strengthen the Egyptian American Communities’ relationships with the country of origin, and country of residence.. 6 Undertake needs assessments and write grants, and seek financial support that is available through American funding providers to fund projects of the Federation.. 7 Empower women by encouraging their community input, voices, and actions, and finding effective means to raise and sustain the representation of women, their participation and their involvement in all Federation activities by promoting gender equality practices, creating opportunities for women to empower themselves, and addressing key issues they see as pertinent to their life. Strive to create a community environment that would assist women’s self-reliance, and emergence of women leaders from local organizations to that of the Board of the Federation.. 8 Encourage members of the Federation to acquire higher levels of education and address the importance of pursuing advanced studies in all fields of knowledge. Engage in learning new things, developing critical thinking, and encouraging scientific research, and stress the importance of transferring knowledge to the country of origin.. 9 Engage the Egyptian-American youth in the life and workings of the Federation, and its member organizations. Encourage them to take leadership roles from local organizations to that of the Board of the Federation. Recognize the youths’ achievements in schools, education institutions, sports, and in all other community activities.. 10 Welcome and embrace new immigrants of Egyptian origin and their families to life in the US. Facilitate their sustainable integration into their new environment and culture by providing necessary training and empowerment with new skills, including English language learning, assisting with cultural adjustment, employment preparation and placement, legal aid and referral services, and emotional support.. 11 Encourage the formation of Egyptian professional and business forums in the US, and develop methods to connect such forums to the Federation. . 12 Educate Egyptian-Americans on important and relevant issues affecting them as a community including the relations between the USA and Egypt.. 13 Update Egyptian-Americans on the state of democratic reforms, human rights, social justice, and balanced development in Egypt.. 14 Establish contacts with the US Congress, the American mass media, the relevant non-governmental organizations, and the US Federal agencies to present the goals and positions of EAF on current issues affecting the US policies in Egypt.. 15 Coordinate and network with other American organizations or groups to conduct relevant activities including providing information, consultation position papers, testimony, and resource persons about Egypt, Egyptian-Americans, and the relations between the USA and the Egyptian people.. 16 Represent the Egyptian-American community at public forums by making regular statements to national and international mass media on issues of concern to Egypt and the Egyptian-American communities and by speaking at public events, think tanks, places of worship, schools, universities, and research centers.. 17 Work with relevant Egyptian NGOs, labor unions, professional organizations, and mass media to advance the mission of EAF.. 18 Conduct educational, social, charity, and other activities to celebrate the cultural heritage of Egypt.. 19 Establish and manage a charity fund to pursue the goals of the EAF.. 20 Promote unity and joint action among Egyptian-Americans and Egyptians around the world.. 21 Promote friendly relations between Egyptian-Americans and other communities in the USA who support EAF’s mission.. .
