Detailed description is The ECU Staff Senate is a representative body of employees established to promote communication between staff of East Carolina University and the administration (as well as faculty and students where appropriate). The ECU Staff Senate is a representative body of employees established to promote communication between staff of East Carolina University and the administration (as well as faculty and students where appropriate). The Staff Senate is comprised of elected senators from the Subject to the Personnel Act (SPA) employee population, Clinical Support Services (CSS) employee population and the non-teaching Exempt from the Personnel Act (non-teaching EPA) employee population at East Carolina University. Reporting directly to the chancellor, the ECU Staff Senate:. . 1. Reviews procedures and makes recommendations regarding the interests/concerns that affect staff members; . 2. Assists in the communication of issues and activities affecting staff members; . serves as a liaison between the chancellor and his staff; . 3. Promotes participation in the university community; and . encourages a sense of community among all university employees. . . The Staff Senate meets monthly during the academic year. Agendas are posted electronically at least 7 days in advance of each meeting. These meetings last approximately 90 minutes. Only elected senators have voting rights. Any faculty & staff member may attend meetings, but staff are only allowed to speak once the Chair recognizes them. Minutes of each meeting are prepared and made available electronically or in hard copy at the request of any employee to his or her divisional senator(s). . . . . . .
