I have been involved in metal detecting for over 6 years now & have gained a wealth of knowledge of many of the different brands on the market by various manufacturers from all over the world -.

I quickly identified who were the best people to gain the best IMPARTIAL advice from and set upon a regime of buying/testing/reviewing the products & examining the companies -.

Over the next few years I had purchased over 50+ units to do this and then re-sell on in an effort to learn as much about these devices as I could.
During this time I had purchased ALL of my equipment so I was not influenced by a manufacturer in reaching any of my conclusions -.

I together with a good mate at the time, started a hobby business called "Detect Direct" - We were responsible for the onslaught of the deteknix X-Pointers to hit the NZ market.

The partnership ended not long after we became the Makro Dealer for NZ & I started up earthSCAN Metal Detecting a couple of years ago in an effort to have a website fellow hobbyists can contribute to and enjoy -.

During this time also, I was behind the introduction of both Nokta & Makro Metal Detectors into NZ and can honestly say that I have not enjoyed anything more.
It was and still is today an honor to work with such wonderful people -.

I have also been working closely with one Chinese Manufacturer throughout this entire process in an effort to gain more knowledge through the work they do for the US companies -.

Due to poor health & financial constraints I was not able to continue to represent both Nokta & Makro in the manner in which I had set myself, so around a year ago, I passed those companies over to a good friend and someone I knew who could represent those manufacturers -.

Thanks to Andrew, I had achieved that goal as well.
So for metal detecting in NZ to be so strong with fantastic representation from most of the leading brands being here now in NZ I could not be happier -.

But I just want everyone to know that out of all the gear I have tested -.

I PAID FOR THEM ALL MYSELF.

Except one - Not long after becoming the Makro/Nokta Dealer my very first customer pulled a 'shifty' on me which cost me my 'demo' unit (which again, I paid for myself).
I think Dilek (Nokta) felt sorry for me at the time as she knew I was trying to do a lot with very little - Low & behold what rocks up in the courier? - A Nokta Fors Core & Pointer - Not long after doing the Nokta Fors CoRe Review I sent the unit to a few interested people and after a year its still doing its rounds here in NZ - so asides from the time I had spent testing it, I have only seen it to wipe its bottom, comb its hair and send it back into the field for another hobbyist to 'Feel the Fors'.

I pride myself in this hobby and if you are like me when it comes to assessing gear then you will no doubt stand out from the rest & will stand out to these GREAT manufacturers as its your honest advice that's valuable, both good and bad -.

Not a corporate mouthpiece, that is too complacent as they don't want to offend their chance of getting ongoing free products - Now there is nothing wrong with that as that is a business all on its own.
Just as long as they go down that path & I go down mine - may the two never cross.
