He hails from McComb, Mississippi, and was raised in nearby Tylertown. Early on he learned the value of school and academics from his mother, an educator herself. She told him that, “Education was not an option but a requirement.”. . His interest in the world of entertainment, performance arts and music came during his formative years. During that period he participated in a number of school theatrical plays and was a member of the Tylertown High School band. As the first male in his family to graduate college, Brooks attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Entertainment Industry with an emphasis in Management, and a minor in Business Administration. He is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity.. . Brooks kicked off his professional endeavors through a series of internships. Under the direction of singer/producer/PH Balanced Music CEO Pattie Howard, his first was for R&B singer Sy Smith, where he performed duties for Smith’s independent label. Being a huge fan of Whitney Houston, working with her personal friend/singers and eventually meeting the Icon was a huge dream come true for him. Brooks also served as an intern for the annual Essence Music Festival (New Orleans), the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, and for the Atlanta Chapter of the Recording Academy.. . A pivotal career move for the young entrepreneur, was taking on the role of management and artist representative in 2009. His first client was international soul singer Colie, whose debut project reached No. 17 on the UK Soul Charts. Brooks handled her day to day business affairs. He initiated and expanded Colie’s global distribution and licensing agreements—most notably in Japan and the UK, where her album received the most success. Brooks oversaw radio airplay, television booking opportunities (NBC, FOX) and worked closely with her publicity representative. While promoting the Colie project, Brooks traveled to places like the UK, Iceland, Jamaica, and various cities throughout the United States.. . Subsequently, the management experience allowed him to expand his brand and expertise in the areas of event production, project management, and artist curation.. . Currently based in Los Angeles, Brooks collaborates with a bevy of clients. Brooks received a credit for art design on Grammy Nominated singer-songwriter Terry Steele’s latest music release. As project coordinator, Brooks helped produce an at-capacity Celebrity Reunion Concert in August 2013 to honor world renowned singer-songwriter-keyboardist-MD Geary Lanier Faggett/ GFE. The red-carpet event was held at the HOME Supper Club in Beverly Hills. Brooks was also instrumental in producing a star-studded Pre-Grammy party, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, February 2013. Then he worked on the L.A. Mass Choir Reunion Concert that took place November 15, 2014, at the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts.. .
