In 1972 Henry was drafted by the New York Knicks to begin his winning professional basketball career.
While on the Knicks he played with such Hall of Famers as Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe and Jerry Lucas…and…future NBA coaching legend, Phil Jackson…winning an NBA title with New York in 1973.
After the Knicks, Henry went on to play for the Philadelphia 76ers where he was part of two 76er teams that made it to the NBA Finals.

Following his successful NBA career, Henry decided to utilize his basketball skills, experience and intelligence in the coaching ranks.
Henry started his coaching career in the CBA and won two championships with the Winnipeg Thunder in 1982 and 1989.
In 1996 Henry was named coach of the men’s basketball team at the University of Southern California where he coached for nine seasons.
He led his 1997, 2001 and 2002 teams to the NCAA tournament, including a final “Elite Eight” appearance in 2001.
Henry went on to coach in the professional ranks with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2006.
Henry is currently an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies…and his son Mike Bibby is an All-Star guard for the Atlanta Hawks.
