Detailed description is Doodle, aka Cheesedoodle, is an FIV+, diabetic cat diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma on 3/14/15 & lost his battle on 9/29/15 I met Cheesedoodle when he went to live in the FIV+ room at the Florida Humane Society.
I was a volunteer there.
He was pulled from the local animal control facility and was eventually placed into Florida Humane's FIV+ cat room.
He was always ready to greet every one that walked into the room with a head butt and purr.
He was adopted in 2013 and then returned because his new owner thought something was wrong with him.
After a visit to the vet it was discovered he was in fact diabetic.
This diagnosis was a struggle for the shelter because he would need to be on a special diet and receive twice daily insulin injections.
The shelter was able to switch his diet but was only able to give insulin once a day.
In February of 2014 while on a visit to the Florida Humane Society I offered to take "Doodle" home with me to NY and care for his diabetic needs.
Being a volunteer with the Diabetic cat rescue group, Diabetic Cats In Need, I was familiar with taking care of a diabetic cat.
He would, however, be my first FIV+ AND DIABETIC cat.
Just makes him extra sweet :) In March of 2015 Doodle was diagnosed with Large Cell Lymphoma (lymphoblastic lymphoma).
As if he didn't have enough to challenge him, now he is fighting the fight of his life.

Doodle lost his fight with cancer on 9/29/15 and in April 2016 our rescue, "Doodles Ranch & Sanctuary", was created in his memory to raise awareness of FIV+, diabetes and cancer as well as other illnesses cats have and to help their owners care for them.
