Detailed description is This is the homestead of Scottish entrepreneur Robert Doak who was one of the first setters in the area.
His original house is open for tours.
The Doak Provincial Heritage Place commemorates Scottish entrepreneur, Robert Doak, who moved to this Upper Miramichi lot with his family in 1825.
Here, he established a carding mill, a grist mill, and a sawmill.

When the post office first came to the area, a name had to be chosen.
Since Doak was a prominent citizen, the area was named after him, originally as Doakton.
