Detailed description is The first class of 2016 at-large program will be on Sunday, Sept 21, 2014 at Salisbury Boscovs.
Register online: www.distinguishedyw.org by Sept 14.
There will be two opportunities for girls from Maryland's high school class of 2015 to qualify to advance to the finals of the State Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program if they do not have a locally sponsored (franchised) program in their county of residence.

Girls who live in the following counties that do NOT have a local franchised Distinguished Young Women Program are eligible to participate in one of two State-Sponsored At-Large programs.
There are no fees to participate at any locals or at-large programs.
However, if you are selected at an at-large program to advance, you will be required to find a sponsor for the state program ($350).
Franchised based locals sponsor their particpant, whereas, counties that do not have a franchised local, those girls who have qualified to advance must find their own sponsors.
We are a 501-C-3 non profit organization and will attempt to help any girl who has been selected to advance, if we can.
There are no guarentees, but we certainly will do our best to help..
Girls who live in the following counties are eligible to participate in only ONE of the two at-large programs: Allegany, Washinton, Garrett, Howard, Montgomery, Prince Georges, Cecil, Harford, Anne Arundel, Kent, Caroline, Dorchester, Worcester, Wicomico, Somerset, St.
Mary'sm Talbot, Baltimore Co, Baltimore City, Queen Annes and Talbot County .

Online registrations must be completed by Feb 15 at www.distinguishedyw.org and girls must bring with them: signed and completed Contestant Agreements, Health Certificate and Official Academic Record in addressed envelope with the schools official seal..

The criteria for judging at all levels will be:.
Interview (25%) 10 minute private interviewwith a panel of judges.
Scholastics (20%) (Officially sealed in school envelop & signed by guidance counselor).
Talent (25%) (90 second on state presentation of talent).
Self Expression (25%) Answer a question within 30-45 seconds, public speaking skills evaluated.
Fitness (15%) peform fitness routine with group of contestants(posted on facebook page) .
