Then DigVentures' crowdfunded and crowdsourced archaeology is for you! . DigVentures crowdfunds archaeological excavations that anyone can join in with - online or in the field. . . Every site we dig is important, and full of evidence that can change our understanding of history, but for whatever reason just isn't getting the attention from other sources that it deserves.. . Everyone at DigVentures is an archaeologist; we come from all aspects of the discipline, but we all have one thing in common - we believe that it's time to try something new!. . We launched the world's first crowdfunded dig in 2012. The site was Flag Fen - an incredible Bronze Age site that is rapidly disappearing. With help from the public, we managed to save some of it, before it was too late.. . Soon, we realised there were a bunch of other incredible ancient sites that just weren't getting the attention they deserved from other sources - and yet the evidence they contained was of huge public interest.. . So we started building a community of people who are passionate, capable, and ready to give archaeology a go in order to help us unearth some of the remarkable evidence that still lies underground, and make new discoveries about what happened in the past.. .
