Im Rahmen des Masterstudiengangs werden die Entwicklung, Struktur und Gebrauch des Deutschen und Englischen untersucht und vermittelt. Der Gegenstand des Studiengangs sind die deutsche sowie englische Sprache (Standardvarietäten ebenso wie regionale und soziale Varietäten) in ihrer gegenwärtigen Struktur und Verwendung unter Einbeziehung des historischen und soziokulturellen Kontextes und unter Berücksichtigung des Sprachkontaktes. Darüber hinaus werden Kenntnisse und Fertigkeiten in Forschungsmethodik vermittelt.
