Der Bunte Vogel (BuVo) wurde 1977 an der Rothenburg 20 erstmalig geöffnet und avancierte zu einem der Kult-Lokale in der Münsterschen Gastro-Szene.

Zum Jahresende 1986 schloss das Lokal die Pforten unter dieser Adresse und wurde am Alten Steinweg 41 in den Räumlichkeiten der „Heulenden Kurve“ wieder eröffnet.
Die Kneipe hatte ihren Namen nach ihrem Standort erhalten: Bis 1954 verlief hier gegenüber dem Erbdrostenhof Münsters elektrische Straßenbahn.
Den Namen „Heulende Kurve“ erhielten Standort und Kneipe aufgrund des heulenden Geräusches, das die Straßenbahn von sich gab, verursacht durch den engen Kurvenradius der Bahnstrecke an dieser Stelle.
Das Heulen und Quietschen war zeitweise so stark, dass man sich in den Hotel- und Restauranträumen nicht mehr verständigen konnte..

Als Erinnerung an diese alte Zeit findet man an der Außenbeschilderung des BuVo, nach wie vor eine kleine Straßenbahn und auch im Eingangsbereich des BuVo ist im Mauerwerk ein Bild der historischen Bahn verewigt..
