Detailed description is Kevin Davis, CJF. . Kevin has been specializing in Hunter/Jumpers, Dressage and the Eventing Equine athlete's farriery needs for over 15 years. . . Servicing Monmouth and Ocean Counties.. . Call Roe today to set up an appointment. Davis Forge is a horseshoeing business run by couple, Kevin and Roe.. . Kevin, owner and operator of Davis Forge, has been involved with horses since birth. He grew up on his mother's horse farm, and began riding since he could walk. Throughout all of his youth, Kevin was very active in Pony Club. He also played Polocrosse competitively, traveling all over the United States, and even to Australia. . . Since childhood, Kevin knew he wanted to be a farrier. He would always look forward to the days his farrier would come to trim and shoe his horses and ponies. He would watch his horses get shod every appointment, and began to learn the trade very quickly.. . Kevin began trimming and shoeing in his late teens by riding along and apprenticing with local farriers. He then went on to attend the Kentucky Horseshoeing School in Mt. Eden, Kentucky, as well as Dave Ferguson’s Mint Vale Forge School in Maryland. Shortly after attending those schools, Kevin became an AFA Certified Farrier, and later an AFA Certified Journeyman Farrier. He continued to apprentice under well known farriers all throughout the state of New Jersey, expanding his knowledge in the trade, and was in the works of branching out into his own business. Kevin has also competed in various horseshoeing competitions all over the country.. . Kevin has always had a love and passion for horses and farriery. In his free time, he enjoys forging handmade shoes, and getting as close to "perfecting" the art of shoeing as he can. He also enjoys ornamental blacksmithing, as well as wood working. . . . . When a customer contacts Davis Forge, Roe will be the one answering their calls/texts. . . Roe is Kevin's full time assistant / secretary / manager / significant other. Like Kevin, she also grew up around horses, and began riding at the age of 5. Roe competed in various horse shows throughout all of her youth, and was an active Horse 4-H Leader in Ocean County for a few years. She then became a PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, and has been teaching riding lessons for 10 years.. . Roe became infatuated with horseshoeing when she met Kevin, and enjoys going to work with him any chance she gets. Although she truly loves the farrier business and working along side of Kevin, she is taking on her own career path in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.. . In her free time, Roe enjoys forging handmade horse shoes and ornamental blacksmithing, (under the instruction and supervision of Kevin) as well as cooking and baking.
