Detailed description is Dark Horse Pottery is currently closed for business but we will continue to post updates and would love to continue to see pictures of the pots Dark Horse Pottery was founded in 2004 by Joel Magen.
We make a full range of functional pottery that is heavily influenced by the Mingei folk art movement from Japan and the utilitarian ware out of England.
Usefulness of objects has always had its own beauty to Joel and he hopes that you find that same feeling from our work..
All the pottery is made by hand in Joel’s, Davenport, California studio and is then fired in wood/gas burning kilns with the aide of his former apprentice and now head production thrower, Drake Bialecki.
Similarly, individual pieces can vary slightly but are still uniform and sets are balanced..
Knowing that people will be living with and using the pottery that we make with our hands is quite an honor for Dark Horse Pottery.
We like the work to have a nice balance and feel, with colors that are soft and pleasant to the eye..
The Pottery is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am till Sunset and by appointment.
