Detailed description is A family owned farm in the Northwest Piedmont of North Carolina, providing a home for the family of Jan and Del Curling, while also providing various natural food and products for others to enjoy. Curling's Crest Farm produces an abundance of fresh, organic brown eggs from pasture raised chickens. Our flock includes several brown egg laying varieties, including some heirloom lines. If you have never tasted eggs fresh from the farm, you have missed out on one of life's simple pleasures. Our chickens are fed antibiotic free grain and corn-based feed, as well as allowed to forage and scratch for their choice of nature's foods. While contained within a fenced area to protect them from predators (raccoons, stray dogs, hawks, etc.), our chickens are otherwise free to range in and out of their mobile house (which our daughter has aptly named "The Chicken Ark") and within their "yard" at will, unlike commercially raised chickens that typically spend their productive egg-laying life in a small metal cage. In exchange for providing our chickens with a safe and healthy environment in which to live, we believe that they reward us with a tastier and healthier egg.. . Our eggs are available for sale most weeks of the year, though due to the fact that we maintain our chickens in a more natural environment rather than in a commercial production facility, we do have some seasonal variations in availability based on the weather, molting stage, predator invasion, etc. Our eggs can be purchased directly from our farm, with no middle man involved, meaning that you will receive the freshest eggs possible at the most reasonable price. Most eggs purchased from our farm will be aged from hours to a few days from laying, making them weeks fresher than most eggs purchased in a grocery store.. .
