At one point the church prayed for my husband and me, but I couldn't let myself believe God would answer those prayers because If he didn't...
I didn't know what would happen.

I caught my breath then dragged my self to a woman's conference themed around the word, "Hope." An angel of a woman preached to hundreds of woman that first night, but she may have just been preaching to me alone.
The message described a scarlet rope Rahab used to signify where she was so she could be saved when the armies of Israel invaded Jericho.
Rahab had to "hope" that they could see it.
She had to "hope" the men who said they'd spare her and her family would keep their word.
Hope.
Apparently, I needed to "hope" God would keep his word too.

So I did.

I was given a simple red string as a symbol of my Hope in the Lord.
God, through that tiny piece of yarn, changed my life! I found my strength again.
I believed that God would keep his promises.
I would have my little girl.
I didn't know when it would happen, but I trusted God to work out the details.
When I felt hope fading and the light getting dim, I held on to that piece of string.

I felt the need to quit my job to prepare my home for the patter of little feet.
We weren't pregnant yet, but I knew God would answer my prayers.
My husband wouldn't let me quit, saying "There was no financial way we could survive on his income alone.".

God had different plans than my poor husband.
In June of that year, my job put me in a position where I felt forced to quit.
The words flew out from my mouth faster than I could think them.
Now I had to tell my husband.
I called him right away.
He was standing outside KFC ready to buy his lunch, not a good time to tell him we suddenly had no money.
He wasn't upset.
He wasn't angry.
The conversation did not go as I expected.
I was confused.

When I told him I had quit he instantly had peace about it.
He even continued to buy his lunch we suddenly couldn't afford.

Just provide.
The next week, God opened a door in our finances.
I didn't need that stuid job anyway!.

Fast forward another week.
I'm standing in the doorway between the kitchen and dining room staring at two thin red lines on a cheap dollar pregnancy test.
"What's it say? Are we pregnant?" My husband's voice echoes in the background.
I can't respond.
I'm frozen, speechless.
"We are pregnant!" He continues, almost glowing! He quickly whisked me away for three, yes, three more tests to verify the results.
