The young adults attended Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church and were honored at a brunch at Central House in Beach Lake. The guest speaker was Mrs. Kathy Grandjean; Mrs. Grandjean is the Executive Director of Communities That Care and a Board member of the Wayne Highlands School District. She spoke about the “Dash” in your life and how to make it meaningful through volunteerism, faith and good works. The honored women were introduced by Ginny Motsko and presented with a crystal Rosary from the Catholic Daughters. Teresa Bayly and Ginny Motsko were co-chairwomen of the event. All women are invited to join the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Martin #418. Meetings are held the first Monday of every month at 7:00pm at St. Mary’s Meeting Room. The gathering was held at the annual Christmas covered dish party at St. Mary’s meeting room, Honesdale, Pa. Those previously inducted and received into the Court were: Patricia Brown, Kathy Nonnemacher, Patricia Kandrovy, Kathryn Highhouse and Mary Ann Cavanaugh. Newly inducted members were: Jessica Corrigan, Rosaria Vlazich, Nancy Donovan, Eileen Gallik, Claire Harvey, Patricia Jennings, Mary Fowler, Cathy Knash, and Marjorie Tamblyn. Dorothy Rickard, Kathryn Highhouse and Susan Palmer were absent from photo and ceremony. Formed over 100 years ago, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) is one of the largest organizations of Catholic women in America. The motto of the CDA is Unity and Charity. The members donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive “to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness.” Court St. Martin #418 meets the first Monday of each month September thru July in St .Mary’s Church meeting room.
