Detailed description is Circa 17th century Traditional, timber framed, Normandy farmhouse; . Recently renovated;. Situated deep in the Normandy countryside on a winding lane. The house is a 'Colombage' property which, in Britain, is what is known as 'Wattle & Daub'. It is believed to have been constructed in the late 1600's with additions made in the 1700's. It has 3 bedrooms and a shower room on the 1st floor and a lounge, dining room, cloakroom, utility room, toilet & kitchen on the ground floor. A further sitting/reading room (originally a room for goats!) can be accessed from the lounge and is ideal for those 'even quieter' moments. The house is fitted with WI-FI and Freeview British TV is available if required. The house has been beautifully restored by the owners and many original features are in evidence throughout.. Although situated in a small hamlet and ‘far from the madding crowd’ the house is only a short drive away (8 mins) from the village of Torchamp where there is a bar & restaurant (La Varenne) and you can buy a baguette or two from there. . A short drive away (9 mins) from the house in the opposite direction is the beautiful, medieval town of Domfront where you will find supermarkets, chemists, restaurants, hairdresser’s, dungeons, and a castle that William the Conqueror and the 100 year war is linked too. The square in the centre of the town is simply beautiful, with cobbled streets and timber houses everywhere. Taking a walk through the castle grounds you will find a house that is built into the side of the cliffs. Here you will find a plaque that commemorates the hiding of airmen, by the French resistance, during WW11.
