Connemara Farm was established in 2009.
After the devastating events of 9-11, my husband and I decided to move our family from the suburbs of Long Island to beautiful Fly Creek Valley located in central New York.
We purchased a 100 acre farm accompanied with a farmhouse that was greater than 120 years old.
Our house needed a lot more work than the eye could see and was inhabited by several "critters." We became quickly familiarized with the local wildlife-the usual white tailed deer, beavers, porcupines and the not so usual roving coyote packs howling in the night, a bobcat staring me down in my driveway, milksnakes and the rare site of a mountain lion running in front of my car as we drove my son home from his T ball game..
With all that said, we have never regretted our move to this beautiful area and wanted to return our land as a workable farm.
After several years of hard work, hence the alpaca business began.
We have always loved alpacas and their beautiful fiber that is lighter and warmer than wool.
Alpacas are charming and gentle creatures and have their own unique personalities.
During our first year of business, we established our foundation herd.
We are now fully up and running and are expecting several births this spring and have animals for sale.
My husband and I take pride in diverse and selective breeding of our Huacaya alpacas ensuring optimum fiber quality and superior genetics.
We have animals with full Peruvian/ Accoyo genetics along with others that have Bolivian/Chilean bloodlines..
We are proud members of the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association, Alpaca Nation, Empire Alpaca Association and Southern Tier Alpaca Association..
