The population was 4,290 at the 2010 census, up from 3,908 at the 2000 census.HistoryThe Harrington Covered Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.GeographyConneaut Township occupies the southwest corner of Erie County. It is bordered to the south by Crawford County and to the west by Ashtabula County in Ohio. The township surrounds the borough of Albion, a separate municipality.According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 112.5km2, of which 111.6km2 is land and 0.9sqkm, or 0.82%, is water. Conneaut Creek, a tributary of Lake Erie, crosses the east side of the township from south to north, then turns west and forms the northern border of the township until it enters Ohio.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 3,908 people, 740 households, and 563 families residing in the township. The population density was 90.2 people per square mile (34.8/km²). There were 771 housing units at an average density of 17.8/sq mi (6.9/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 73.39% White, 25.28% African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.05% from other races, and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.17% of the population.
