O grupo surgiu em meados de 2004/2005 no Orkut criado pelo (ninguém sabe o nome real) “Sonic Team”.. . A ideia era juntar todos aqueles fãs , colecionadores e nostalgicos a se conhecerem. Com o tempo a comunidade foi crescendo (hoje em dia com uns 22.000 membros no Orkut) e se tornou um fórum forte, a partir de 2008 mais ou menos a comunidade foi herdada pelo “/\/\estre Chronos” que continua sendo o atual dono lá, foram criados nesse tempo varias formas dos membros interagirem entre si, desde o “Group Sim” do MSN da comunidade, até “campeonatos “ via postagens do Orkut.. . Em 2009 o moderador Celso “Defenestrador” Affini, começou os preparativos para o 1º Encontro da Comunidade Mega Drive, em sua casa. A partir deste, os outros encontros começariam a ter dezenas e depois uma centena de pessoas (caso do 3º Encontro em abril de 2011).. . Assim começaram vários eventos ao longo de 2 anos em locais e cidades diferentes. Em quanto isso, eram criados o grupo Mega Drive no facebook , no twitter e o Site da Comunidade, especializado no antigo console da SEGA.. . Apesar do nome continuar sendo Comunidade Mega Drive, o grupo aborda todos os videogames. Por isso nos nossos encontros você encontra vários consoles diferentes, como foi o caso do CNA Cultural Event que contou com 5 videogames de empresas diferentes.. . Apesar do Mega Drive ser o foco primário, dedicamos a história e cultura gamer e ela não foi feita só por um aparelho, mas por um conjunto de fatores , políticos, empresarias, culturais.
