Detailed description is College Life Lessons After teaching high school students for a couple of years, I quickly realized that most of my students were able to pass classes, projects, and tests.
However, when I started talking to them about their future, I got one of two responses: “I am going to make so much money that I won't need a job forever” OR “I think I'm going to live at home for as long as possible.” While this was not the feeling of all my students, I was extremely surprised by the amount of students who did have this false idea of what the future would surely hold for them.
While these aspirations were not impossible, I would encourage them to think about the realistic goals and plans for 5, 10, 20 years down the road.
Most of them didn't know were to start.

After speaking to a few colleagues, I realized that I was not alone in my discovery.
Most of the students didn't know what it meant to have to hold a job in order to pay bills, and they didn't have a realistic expectation about finances in general.
Others had never been taught what the steps were to get into college, steps such as scholarship help, college essays, career prep.
That's when the idea for College Life Lessons was born: Let's build a community of students and educators who can work together to build a foundation to achieve real life skills, using the academic tools the students were already receiving.
