They opened their doors in this historic building in 2008, realizing there was a niche on Front Street, just waiting to be filled by a coffee shop.. . With Meghan’s treasured family recipes and Ron’s knowledge and love of coffee – along with lots of hard work – they have developed a menu of delicious home cooked meals to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.. . The story of “Yankee Grits”. . Meghan learned to cook grits, the mainstay of southern breakfasts, when their original breakfast cook retired. Being from “the north”, and never having made hominy grits before, Meghan put her own spin and creativity into the mix. They were so creamy good that Ron christened them “Yankee Grits” and they became a favorite fixture here at the Coffee Break Café.
