Detailed description is The Riley/Carmack Museum in Plattsburg, Mo The Riley-Carmack Museum is a two-story East Lake style estate home of the 1880s.
Horace Riley, a prominent banker resided in Plattsburg, and built the home for his daughter Alma and her new husband, Ward Carmack.
Ward was employed at the local pharmacy.
Many of the artifacts belonged to the couple, and others have been donated by various members of the community whose ancestors were founding fathers of the county.
The County and City of Plattsburg was established in 1833.
There is a coat and gloves fashioned of bear hide that is on display.
The bears were shot where the courthouse now stands.
During one of the first winters, there were over 30 bears shot on that particular site.
It was wild country! The first settlers were Mr and Mrs.
