Dear Brothers and Sisters,. . We know you are aware that our communities, churches and families have been affected by the drug and alcohol addictions that permeate our society. Millions of people each year are negatively affected by their dependence on drugs or alcohol. Jobs are lost. Families are broken. Lives are destroyed. People everywhere are held captive to physical and emotional effects of addictions. This community is no different. These people are our fathers, brothers, neighbors and friends. As Christians, we have an opportunity to take the love of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. Today, that world is not a far distant land but our own neighborhoods, even our own church families. And we know that Christ has come to set the captive free, to bind the wounds of the broken, and to heal the sick.. City of Refuge Ministries (CRM) believes the Lord has led us to introduce ourselves to you at this time. During the past year, a small board of local ministers have followed the burden placed upon them to form a ministry to provide a long-term rehabilitation facility for men with addictions. We are seeking to establish a place that the people of God can come together to minister to the needs of those trapped in addiction. Attached you will find an informational brochure explaining our mission, statement of faith, and goals. We are currently a 501.c.3 organization registered in DeKalb County. . The purpose of this letter is, initially, to ask for your prayers. Secondly, we would like to inform you of upcoming meetings and activities to establish this ministry. It is our hope to form a partnership with you, other churches, and ministries to accomplish the goals God has lain on our hearts. These goals include:. . *Gaining the participation of area churches. *Establishing a facility on property in the north DeKalb area. *Securing funding to meet the needs of the facility . *Encouraging volunteers and donations to meet the needs of the facility. *Creating opportunities for long-term employment of CRM residents. *Creating relationships between CRM residents and local churches for their salvation and long-term spiritual growth.. . We will be sending invitations for a kick-off service in early spring 2015, and ask you to consider sending a minister/deacon delegation to that event.
