Detailed description is Το Αθήναιο είναι Μουσείο καλών τεχνών στην πόλη Αλεξάνδρεια της Βιρτζίνια στις ΗΠΑ. Στεγάζεται σε ιστορικό κτίριο το οποίο είχε καταγραφεί στον κατάλογο ιστορικών τόπων το 1980.Περιγραφή και ιστορικό του κτιρίουΤο κτίριο είναι κύριο δείγμα του αρχιτεκτονικού ρυθμού του Greek Revival. Ανήκε στον πολιτικό λόρδο Φαίρφαξ William Fairfax και εποπτεύτηκε από τον Τζορτζ Ουάσιγκτον. Η κατασκευή του ανέρχεται στο έτος 1851-52. Λειτούργησε ως γραφείο της τράπεζας Old Dominion. Κατά τον Αμερικάνικο Εμφύλιο Πόλεμο, όταν η Αλεξάνδρεια καταλήφθηκε από τους Νότιους, το κτίριο χρησιμοποιήθηκε για στρατιωτικούς σκοπούς.
