Detailed description is ★ ★ ★ "Perché solo al cinema il cinema è cinema!" ★ ★ ★. ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Cinema Mexico, grazie alla forza del suo pubblico, alla creatività degli autori che qui si sono avvicendati e alla tenacia del suo titolare, Antonio Sancassani, è stato il primo cinema milanese a ricevere dal sindaco Giuliano Pisapia la massima onorificenza cittadina, l'Attestato di civica benemerenza - Ambrogino d'oro -, il più ambìto riconoscimento cittadino, nel 2011. Un onore che viene assegnato ogni anno dal Sindaco di Milano, durante una cerimonia pubblica, il 7 dicembre. ★ ★ ★ ★. ★ LA NOSTRA STORIA ★. Il Cinema Mexico, al civico 57 di via Savona, nasce nel 1914 come cinema sociale, in un quartiere in crescita industriale dove oltre a fabbriche e laboratori da nove anni sorgevano soltanto, per volontà della Società Umanitaria, le prime Case Operaie costruite a Milano (via Solari 40). È stato rilevato alla fine degli anni Settanta da Antonio Sancassani, che ne ha fatto da subito una sala d'essai, conservando lo stesso nome che già aveva, Mexico, e dedicando all'inizio la programmazione a film musicali come Woodstock (Wadleigh, 1970), Jesus Christ Superstar (Jewison, 1973), Tommy (Russell, 1975) e Hair (Forman, 1979). Con la riproposta, dal 1981, di The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Sharman, 1975) come spettacolo interattivo, in cui ha debuttato anche Claudio Bisio – e più di recente Gianmarco Pozzoli, Valeria Graci e Francesco Sarcina – il Mexico è diventato punto di riferimento per gli appassionati di questo originale film-cult e una tra le cinque Rocky Horror House ufficiali al mondo. Anche quest'anno, che è il 36° di programmazione, The Rocky Horror Picture Show è stato proposto ai suoi fan quasi tutti i venerdì alle 22.00, da fine ottobre a fine maggio.. Completamente ristrutturato nel 2000, oggi il Mexico propone film d’essai, opere prime in esclusiva, produzioni indipendenti italiane e straniere, documentari e opere cinematografiche ad alto contenuto culturale – sostenendoli per quanto è possibile con lunghe teniture e così portandoli spesso al successo – affiancati ogni giovedì da una selezione dei migliori film della stagione in lingua originale. . Il lunedì sera è stato dedicato, da agosto 2016 a maggio 2017, alla grande esclusiva per Milano de “I Classici restaurati in prima visione”, grazie al progetto di restauro e distribuzione della Cineteca di Bologna "Il Cinema Ritrovato. Al cinema".. Antonio Sancassani, esercente e proprietario del Mexico di Milano, dall’autunno 2014 è il Delegato nazionale del Gruppo Piccolo Esercizio tra i vertici nazionali dell’Anec - Associazione Nazionale Esercenti cinema, per il mandato 2014-2017. . Su di lui, esercente "controcorrente", il regista Michele Rho ha girato il lungometraggio "Mexico! Un cinema alla riscossa", un documentario uscito nelle sale il 4 maggio 2017 che sta girando nei festival internazionali e nei cinema d'essai italiani, e che vi consigliamo di vedere....
