Detailed description is 慈眼寺駅（じげんじえき）は、鹿児島県鹿児島市慈眼寺町にある、九州旅客鉄道（JR九州）指宿枕崎線の駅である。地元の住民からは「じがんじ駅」とも呼ばれている。歴史 1988年（昭和63年）3月13日 - 九州旅客鉄道の駅として開業。 1992年（平成4年）頃 - 列車交換設備設置とともに、橋上駅へ改築。 2012年（平成24年）12月1日 - ICカードSUGOCAの利用を開始。 2016年（平成28年）3月26日 - 高架駅での営業を開始。慈眼寺駅発着の普通列車が設定される。利用状況2016年（平成28年）度の1日平均乗車人員は1,462人である。駅周辺駅が出来る以前は、鹿児島市内では珍しく田圃も目立つのどかな新興住宅地であったが、現在は、駅の東側を中心にすっかり市街地化した。 駅の東側の谷山中央6丁目、5丁目界隈は、区画整理事業が完了し住宅とロードサイド店等が混在する。道路は直線で交わり道幅がゆったりして整然とした街並となっている。駅の西側の通称「西谷山地区」は、大半を占めていた県農業試験場跡地を利用し区画整理事業中であり、所々に空き地が目立っているが、一部で換地が始まっており真新しい家々が建ち始めている。 慈眼寺公園：「風致地区」に指定されている。 谷山護国神社 タイヨー慈眼寺店 鹿児島慈眼寺郵便局 鹿児島市立和田小学校 鹿児島生協病院 コープかごしま南谷山店隣の駅 九州旅客鉄道 指宿枕崎線 快速「なのはな」・普通 谷山駅 - 慈眼寺駅 - 坂之上駅
