Known as a cultural version of inter-high school athletic competitions, the annual All-Japan High School Cultural Festival (Toyama Sobun in Japanese) will be held in Toyama Prefecture in Japan.. . The Asahi Shimbun will support the students and promote exchanges with their counterparts overseas through this new Facebook page.. . With its 35 years of history, dating back to the first one held in Chiba Prefecture in 1977, the annual event has consistently given high school students a chance to compete in various fields and promote exchanges and friendship through their activities.. . Competitions are held in such fields as theatrical performance, chorus, brass band, Japanese music, marching band/baton twirling, arts and crafts, calligraphy, photography, go (Japanese board game) and the making of campus newspapers.. .
