Our mission is to provide a safe environment for unwanted, neglected and “at risk” horses in order to prevent as many as possible from suffering or going to slaughter. We rehabilitate them when possible and strive to find 'forever' homes for them. We also promote non-cruelty to animals by focusing efforts on raising awareness and providing information to the public concerning the nature and proper care of horses, and the plight these animals face. . . Central Oregon Equine Rescue is a temporary place of rest and recuperation for horses found to be neglected, abused or headed to slaughter. Our founding members have many years invested in the care and well being of their own animals. We strive to find as many loving, informed homes for as many horses as possible. We are 100% volunteer run and operate solely on donations. . It is our goal to place horses into “forever” homes where they will be wanted and cared for properly for the rest of their lives. We strive to find the perfect horse for your lifestyle, your home and your heart.. We are a small rescue relatively new to Central Oregon, however rescue has been our passion for over 25 years.. In just the last 2 years COER has assisted with/rescued 15 mare foal pairs that were destined to slaughter. Many of the mares were pregnant and foaled the following Spring and are now running free on a sanctuary in California. We have also nurtured multiple orphan foals, several are still with us and have started their schooling to become well versed riding companions..
