In addition to coursework within the Institute, students will be able to take full advantage of all the university offers: 35 majors, 34 minors, 12 education certifications, and 7 pre-professional programs, leading to BA, BS, BSN, or BSW degrees. Academically gifted students may also apply for admission to the Templeton Honors College, a nationally known Great Books program.. . 2. Minor in Orthodox Thought and Culture. An interdisciplinary, integrated curriculum focused on the Great Books of the Church Fathers, as well as other noteworthy but rarely studied Orthodox theologians, philosophers, novelists, poets, statesmen, cultural figures, musicians, iconographers, and artists. All periods, ancient to modern, with a Pan-Orthodox scope.. . 3. Orthodox professors teaching Orthodox topics. All courses within the Institute will be taught by qualified and faithful Orthodox Christian professors, dedicated to the formation of the whole person. Personalized attention and mentorship will be a key feature of the Institute's pedagogical approach. Over time, the Institute's ambitious goal is to create endowed chairs in five of the major areas of the curriculum: Orthodox Theology, Arabic Christianity and Culture, Russian Literature, Byzantine History and Art, and Ancient Greek and Latin Language and Literature. Chairs in other areas of the curriculum are also possible, depending on donor interest.. . 4. Liturgical life. A rich liturgical cycle will be available, as well as regular interaction with Orthodox clergy, monastics, and visiting speakers. On Sundays, rides will be available to local Orthodox parishes.. . 5. Hierarchical oversight. The Institute is in the process of forming a Pan-Orthodox advisory board, including hierarchs, clergy, and laity.. . 6. Excellent location near Philadelphia. Within 100 miles of campus there are 286 Orthodox parishes. Charming downtown Wayne and the King of Prussia shopping district are a few minute's drive. Students can walk to the local train stop and be in Center City Philadelphia in 25 minutes, thereby taking advantage of cultural opportunities as well as potential internships.. . 7. Campus life and extracurricular opportunities. EU's scenic 114-acre main campus is on a former estate in the historic "mainline" district of suburban Philadelphia. Close-knit communities in dorms (separate for men and women), NCAA Division III sports, intramurals, and numerous student clubs are available.. . 8. Study abroad. Exchange and study abroad programs already exist, including at Oxford University and the University of St. Andrews.
