"One of the nation's boldest journalism experiments"--New York Times The Center for Collaborative Journalism, called "one of the nation’s boldest journalism experiments" by The New York Times, is a new partnership between Mercer University, The (Macon) Telegraph, Georgia Public Broadcasting and The John S.
and James L.
Knight Foundation.
Funded by $4.6 million from Knight and $1 million from the Peyton Anderson Foundation, the Center applies the teaching hospital model to journalism education..

Reporters work with student journalists in a joint newsroom that houses students, GPB and primary editorial operations for The Telegraph, right next to classrooms, a media lab, faculty offices and radio and TV studios.
The Center will also launch a hyperlocal community news site that pushes the boundaries of multimedia news production, chronicles the history of Macon and engages the community about issues most valuable to their neighborhoods..
