Detailed description is Cecilia Ruesta an active advocate for an affordable, inclusive and diverse campus! Leader, Peruvian, mother, queer, immigrant and proud bulldog at Fresno State.. My involvement as a student organizer and providing leadership in different clubs and organizations, has led me to understand the importance of using my voice to create change. As member of a student led org. called Students for Quality Education, we stopped the tuition increase back in 2013, and we defeated the proposed “Student success fees” in 2014. As a student, I’m concerned about the lack of funding the CSU is experiencing, the unease students are feeling due to the current political climate, and the need to bring inclusiveness & diversity into “action” on our campus. I been advocating for students since then, and lobbying to get more funding for the CSU. ASI has many more resources than any organization in campus. For that reason I believe we can make a bigger impact and pressure our state legislators to fund higher education as they used to do. This will alleviate student's fees, the need to work extra hours to afford our education, and the need to take loans. . For those reasons and more, I want to become your ASI president, to listen to your concerns and use my voice to create change. We can work together into making Fresno State the BOLD community we are striving to be.
