Detailed description is The Official Facebook of the Cazenovia College Equestrian Team.
The Equestrian Team at Cazenovia College competes in three different disciplines: Hunter Seat, on the flat and over fences; Western Horsemanship, which includes Reining; and Dressage.
The Hunter Seat and Western groups compete at Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) recognized horse shows.
The Dressage group competes at Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) recognized shows..
Students may choose to participate in any or all of the team facets.
It is possible for a student to compete in more than one discipline each semester.
Each discipline has its own coaches and team captains and is well supported by the horses and staff at the Equine Education Center.
Tryouts for the team are held at the beginning of each Fall semester.

Each group participates in several competitions each semester and completes the year with the Regional, Zone and National Championships.
Both teams and individual riders may qualify for these year end events.
Cazenovia College riders have received many ribbons and awards at National Championships including recognition with Academic Achievement Awards and IHSA Scholarships..
Cazenovia College hosted the IHSA Nationals in 1998, 1999 and 2002.
Cazenovia also hosted the IHSA Western Semi-Finals in 2008 and 2010..
Riders from Cazenovia College have won numerous individual National Championships, including the Cacchione Cup, awarded to the outstanding rider in the Hunter Seat division for the year.
Both Western and Hunter Seat riders have consistently represented the college at IHSA Nationals and both have brought home a Reserve National Team Championship..
The Dressage group competes in separate shows held throughout the year with riders and teams striving to qualify for the Intercollegiate Dressage Championship.
Cazenovia College hosted this event in 2004 and our riders received several ribbons including a Reserve Championship.
At the 2005 Dressage Championship, Cazenovia College riders earned a National Championship, a Reserve Championship and the High Point Rider of Nationals title.

In order to compete on the team, students must remain eligible academically.
