The Carilion Clinic - Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine General Surgery Residency program is an American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved training program.
Currently we offer four categorical positions per year of training.
Additionally, we offer a number of preliminary positions for PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents.
The program is primarily housed in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH), a full-service quaternary care hospital located just outside downtown Roanoke, Va.
Residents will also spend clinical time at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital (CRCH), a large multi-specialty outpatient facility used for the management of adult and pediatric patients with needs amenable to remedy via the outpatient route, that is located roughly a mile from CRMH.
Residents will be given opportunities to hone their clinical skills, and to obtain assistance from ancillary tests only when it is believed that the results of these examinations will appreciably alter the manner in which the patient is being managed.
