Detailed description is The Caribou Soil Conservation works with the local farmers and ranchers in improving water quality in the county. The Caribou Soil Conservation District is a board of 7 locally elected officials. The Caribou SCD is one of fifty Soil Conservation Districts in Idaho. The Caribou SCD works to enhnace and protect our natural resources by promoting good Water Quality and working to decrease Soil Erosion. The Caribou SCD has been serving Caribou County for 63 years. Current Board members are: Wilder Hatch-Chairman, Mike Tingey-Vice Chairman, Rulon Wistesen-Sec./Treasurer, Geroge Milward, Vicki Lozier, Sherman Toone, and Darwin Josephson. Other technichal staff include Pauline Bassett-Administrative Assistant, Chris Banks-Water Quality Resource Conservationist, and Shawn Banks-Water Quality Resource Conservationist. The Caribou SCD receives engineering support from Allan Johnson (Idaho Soil and Water Conservation Commission), and specialized technical assistance from Steven Smith-Water Quality Resource Conservationist.
