CAMTIC, la Cámara de Tecnología de Información y Comunicación, es una asociación empresarial privada, sin fines de lucro.. . Su actividad data de 1993, cuando un grupo de 15 empresarios fundó la Asociación para la Protección de Programas Informáticos (APPI).. . Luego, en 1998, esa asociación se estableció formalmente y cambió su nombre por el de CAPROSOFT, es decir, la Cámara de Productores y Aplicaciones de Informáticas de Costa Rica.. . Debido al éxito y aceptación del software costarricense y aprovechando la convergencia con las telecomunicaciones, en el 2004 se tomó la decisión de cambiar el nombre de la organización por el actual, CAMTIC, Cámara de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación.. . Actualmente CAMTIC está integrada por cerca de 200 empresas y conforma un bloque estratégico que busca fortalecer y apoyar al sector de las tecnologías digitales en Costa Rica.. .
