Detailed description is A recreational area for LDS youth camps, YSA, adult groups and families - on the temple doorstep! Reservations: [email protected]. Call: 07 846 0448. . A unique camping opportunity located within walking distance of the NZ Temple, with beautiful Temple, Lake and bush views from the camp. The 45 acre site has a heavily forested centre with a wide variety of native trees and several shady trails and resting areas. Tens of thousands of additional trees have being added to the site over the last few years with still more to come. There are two beautiful small lakes on the east side, as well as a spring with small ponds in the bush. The lovely songs of a wide variety of birds can be heard throughout. This is a beautiful place to learn life skills, enrich friendships, build self esteem, strengthen testimonies and feel our Heavenly Father’s spirit.. . The camp includes two large Pavilions (200 seat capacity and large kitchen with toilets in each), two main toilet and shower blocks, three terraced and grassed outdoor amphitheatres, sports field for a variety of activities, as well as camp fire gathering areas.. Also in each of the nine individual Camp areas, there are Communal Shelters for cooking and dining and for small group activities. . . As part of their camp experience, youth and their leaders will be able to visit the New Zealand Temple and Visitor’s Centre and also the Pacific Church History centre, just 2 km to the east and connected by a pathway through farmland.. . The groups will have service opportunities within the campground, such as maintaining trails, planting trees, re-potting plants, mowing, weed-eating, cleaning, etc.. . Camp Tuhikaramea is available to Stakes and Wards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Young Women and Young Men camps. Also Young Single Adult groups, Stake and Ward/Branch activities, as well as family groups and Temple patrons when available.. . The camp has a total of twelve cabins divided between four different camping areas, each sleeping 10, with a cabin capacity for 120 individuals. There are also five other camp areas for tents only, with kitchens/dining facilities, with over 100 tent campsites available. . . The camp is open all year round, however, camps cannot start or end on Sundays.. We look forward to your visit soon!!.
