Detailed description is A group of volunteer aviation enthusiasts comprised of pilots, controllers, airport personnel, etc. to utilize aviation for the purpose of assisting those in need. Cajun Airlift (CAL) was organized by a group of aviation enthusiasts out of New Orleans. The idea was originally developed to fill just a few airplanes with supplies and send to the Houston area, which was affected by Hurricane Harvey. We received an overwhelming response from volunteer pilots all over Louisiana and the surrounding areas.. . Cajun Airlift grew exponentially over the past three weeks and flew approximately 25,000lbs of supplies to several cities in Texas following Hurricane Harvey - including Orange, Beaumont, Houston, Victoria, Lake Jackson and Rockport.. . Our focus continues to be on Texas but also Florida, Puerto Rico and the USVI which was affected by Hurricane Irma and more recently, Hurricane Maria.
